Pale Fire Capital has become an official partner of the Czech Paralympic Team. The first joint activity is the establishment of a new Paralympic Day, which will be celebrated for the first time on October 6, 2025.
Its aim is to honor the history of parasport in the Czech Republic, to recall its core values, and to express respect for every person with a disability who, despite the greatest obstacles, spends their free time actively — whether through recreation, performance, or elite sport.
The date of Paralympic Day pays tribute to the memory of parasport pioneer Vojmír Srdečný, who was born on October 6, 1919. He came from a sporting family, took part in Sokol gatherings, and after returning from the Sachsenhausen concentration camp dedicated himself to developing a system of medical physical education. In 1948, he founded the Kladruby Games, which are still held today.
In 1969, Srdečný co-founded the Czechoslovak Association of Physically Disabled Athletes and played a key role in enabling the first Czech athletes to participate in the Paralympic Games in the 1970s.
The awareness campaign for Paralympic Day, made possible also thanks to the support of Pale Fire Capital, will be followed next year by the opening of the first Paralympic fan zone during the Games in Milan.
The partnership between the Czech Paralympic Team and Pale Fire Capital is built on shared values: perseverance, courage, and respect.
“The story of Vojmír Srdečný shows that great things often begin with the determination of individuals who can pursue a goal they believe in, even when they must overcome the greatest obstacles. We would like to see as many such role models around us as possible. The values of the Paralympic movement are close to our hearts, and we truly appreciate the dedication with which the Czech Paralympic Committee promotes them and actively supports the development of parasport in the Czech Republic. We want to help this effort, at least in this way,” says David Holý, partner at Pale Fire Capital.
